Filbertmen
Stress Price
Parity Need
! Importance of a price parity for
the Oregon filbert industry in line
with current economic conditions
was stressed at a meeting of the
Oregon Filbert Commission Thurs
day in Salem.
It was pointed out that while
Filbert prices have increased the
past year they are atill inadequate
based on the cost of production
land marketing. This year'a filbert
will show a marked decrease when
compared with some previous
years because of unfavorable wea
ther conditions.
There also has been some re
duction in the northwest filbert
acreage, the commission said.
Approximately IS per cent of
filberts produced in the United
States come from Oregon and IS
per cent in Washington state.
