Prices Rally
NEW YORK W-The stock mar
ket rallied Wednesday and re
traced a substantial portion of the
sharp fall suffered Tuesday.
The deep markdown in prices
Tuesday attracted bargain hunters
Wednesday, and demand was
nough'to hike prices all around.
However, there was no unusual
enthusiasm about the rise, and the
business developed was less than
Tuesday's total 2.440,000 shares
as compared with 2.590,000 shares.
The Associated Press average of
60 stocks was up $1.00 at $189 00.
Tuesday it dropped $2.60, the
heaviest decline in six .months.
The industrial component of the
average was up 11.70, rails added
80 cents, and utilities were up 10
cents.
The market was quite a bit nar
rower than it was Tuesday with
