(Jack) Elliott, 61, assist nt administrator of the State Liq uor Control Commission for the J iast six years, died Sunday at lames Veterans Hospital at Van couver, Wash. He resided in Salem most of his life prior to moving to Portland shortly after World War II. Klliott, who had been connected with the liquor commission In var ious capacities since 1934, had been 111 for a considerable time. ' A veteran of both World Wars, Klliott was born at Newberg Sept. 26, 1894. He attended Newberg and Salem public schools and was a graduate of Salem High School and University of Oregon class ol 1917. Named Assistant He first was Salem manager for the liquor commission, became, per onncl manager in Portland, then store supervisor and was named assistant administrator about 19S0. He saw overseas duty.ai a cap tain in the air corps during World War I and held the rank' of Lieu tenant colonel in the 8th Air Force in World War II. Elliott was prominent in activi ties of Capitol Post No. t of the American Legion while here and was a member of the post's 40 et 8 organization. He was a former member of the Elks Lodge and was affiliated with the Friends Church. He belonged to Kappa Sigma Fraternity while at Univer sity of Oregon: Widow Survlvlnf T Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Vivian Elliott, Portland; son, John Elliott, Pocatello, Idaho; daughter, Mrs. Joan Poorman, Syracuse, N.Y.; mother, Mrs. F. A. Elliott, Portland; two grandsons, John and William Poorman, Syra cuse, N.Y.; and a granddaughter, Shelley Elliott, Pocatello, Idaho. Funeral services will be at 10 am. Wednesday at the Colonial ' Mortuary In' Portland, with Rev. George Swift officiating. Graveside services will follow at noon at Bel crest Memorial Park here.
