AP NEWSFEATtRES TORTLAWrfaffiS X hobby has turned into a business for two young women who decided to make dolls for fun, and found themselves continuing for profit. , ' "We planned to make just a dozen or so," said Mrs. Evelyn Kaplan, "but the idea snowballed and we ended up making hun dreds.". .', Mrs. Kanlan and Mrs! Joanne Waxman created several ficurcs. Including Bo-Bo the Gown. The dolls are .made completely of wool yarn. They are about six inches tall. Each takes about 40 minutes to make. , " "We hit upon a good system," explained Mrs.-Waxman. "While one of us crocheted, the other constructed. That way neither of us got tired of doing just one thing; we could swap jobs." unexpected success. Several hospitals nut them into their sift shons. Soon the dolls were on sale in Boston and in several New Hamp shire communities. Now six other women have joined the working force, while the originators devote much of their time to selling and delivering. Recently thry sent three dolls to the White House for President Eisenhower's grandchildren, and received a personal letter of thanks from Mrs. Eisenhower. The state hoard of Federation of Garden Clubs will meet on Feb. at Eugene and the Capital Dis trict will hold their meeting on April 11 Plana were made for the group's family dinner, which .will bt held on Feb. 22 at' the Salem Heights Community Hall. She talked on the Shaw Gardens which is an area of forty acres.
