Will the Mollet-Mendes-France combi nation rely on the 151 Communist votes to win confirmation? Or will It be able to attract votes from right-of-center parties,, some of w hose members may be willing to give the new combination a chance? These two leaders, among ,the youngest In French politics, Insist their program must be accepted on a "take it or leave It" basis. "So invite into their cabinet more voices from the right, they insist, would create another of the many do nothing cabinets that have plagued France since the war. The Communists appear ready to support Mollet and Mendes France in the hope of strengthen ing their own position. They are close of a two -day committee meeting. The Mollet Mendes-France com bination has indicated it would not reject Communist votesin its bid for confirmation. I'. S. Dismayed The possibility this combination could develop is dismaying to American diplomats here. They feel it would be a blow to Western cohesion, and that it would alien ate more members of Congress in America, many of whom already are very sour on France as an ally. What worries them even more is that such support might develop into a "popular front" with Com munists in the cabinet. Ruled Legal WASHINGTON UP The gener al counsel of the National Labor Relations Board, T. C. Kammholz, ruled Sunday that a union may legally try to organize workers by buying them beer. A firm had complained that a union coerced workers, in violation of the Taft-Hartley act, by picking up their beer tab during an organ izing campaign. ! The employer also complained the union obtained signatures on' union 'membership cards by threat-, ening workers with loss of jobs, of fering reduced initiation fees, and exaggerating union wage scales in other localities. i -,- Kammholz dismissed the charges saying" asme irom me joss-oi -joo threats which were unsupported by the evidence, the remaining allega tions, even if true, did not coosti i tute violations under the act." Uneasy Calm Settles Over Split Church NEW YORK UP Traditional Sabbath dignity reigned Sunday at services in Brooklyn's embattled Church of The Holy Trinity, with only a slight backwash from last Sunday s commotion. The Rev. Mr. William Howard Melish, the church's controversial pastor, held early morning and 11 a.m. services amid churchly calm But several detectives sat at the later service with the congrega- , tion, numbering about 300. Outside the stately edifice some 100 per j sons gathered .curious to see if 7 flnvttlinff arfflilff hnnrwn Thcr were no demonstrations. About SO feet away from the church, at a street intersection, workmen were busy doing a re pair job with triphammers. A lady parishioner, before entering ihe church, asked the workmen to stop during services. After few min utes they complied. Last Sunday the Rev. Mr. Me lish, now facing a court battle to stay on at the 102-year-old church, engaged in rival, simultaneous services with the bishop-appointed Rev. Robert Thomas. It was a stormy Sabbath gath ering.
