And what it takes to come up with just one new good show is t cau tion. Take ABC for instance. They current ly have seven shows in what they call the "formative" stage. One of them Is a projected 90 minute film series called "Com mand Performance," to be made by the producers of the "Schliti Playhouse of Stars," Meridian Productions. Meridian will make one film. Just one. If ABC likes it, they will try to sell it to a sponsor. If a sponsor buys it (meaning, of course, a full sea son's series based on the quality of that one film), then Meridian will go ahead and make 25 more. If ABC doesn't like it or can't tell it, Meridian is stuck with it, ABC also is gambling on an hour-long dramatic film series to be filmed in Europe by Sheldon Reynolds, the young man behind "Foreign Intrigue." The railroad originally published a proposed tariff, effective last Nov. 15, for a 50 cents per 100 pounds reduction on freight rates on ftesh meat shipped to the West Coast from cities eastward to Chi cago. A spokesman for the bureau said the proposed rate cut was designed to meet competition from trucking companies. However, the ICC suspended the proposed rates Nov. 14, leaving to the railroads the decision whether or not to contest the order in hear ings. The freight rate cut was opposed by West Coast packers and live stock interests. , 6 BSLM Vail Tarmcait Vall rarmcatt nrKT i no.)
