One of the most important early
camp- site projects is construction
of a- $200,000 bridge to span the
600-foot Snake River.. There is no
present link across the water ex
cept a ferry and small boats. The
shipment. : "We're down to one
demonstrator," said one agent.-

and 200,000 board foot of lumber.
Construction of the bridge is
necessary, the officials said, - to
gain full use of access roads and
railways from both the Idaho and
Oregon sides of the river. ;
' Idaho Power, which was given
the green light for construction of
Brownlee and iwo other , dams in
the Hells Canyon area of the river
byi the Federal Power Commision,
recently signed a construction con
tract with Morrison-Knudsen. '
The Brownlee dam, to be built
eight miles north of , Robinette,
Ore., is the first of the three. Ap
proval by the FPC came after a
lengthy and bitter fight which -opponents'
