The new elevator bad been proposed because present Co-op facilities are inadequate to han dle bulk grain and Portland mar kets will not accept sacked grain. The elevator, if built, would care for grain farmers not only in the Jefferson vicinity but also those in the areas about Turner, Al bany. Scio. ROTC Hears Dean Reese Seward Reese, dean of the Wil lamette University College of Law, addressed members of the Land- berg squadron of the Arnold Air Society during initiation ceremo nies of the AFROTC unit Thursday evening on the Willamette campus. The Arnold Air Society forms the national honorary for Junior and Senior men of the advanced AFROTC unit of Willamette. Dean Reese spent five years on active duty during WW II. His duty was with pilot schools, heavy bomb groups and General H. H. Arnold's Headquarters. An active reservist since the age of 19.; he holds the rank of colonel in the Air Force Reserve and has a mobilization as signment with the Air Defense Command Headquarters, Colorado Springs, Colo. y. Dean Reese spoke of the growth and impending strength of the Air Force in relation to development of new and better air weapons and their utilization. The occasion is the second annual Business - Education Day spon sored by the Salem Chamber of Commerce. Teachers, coming from both public and parochial schools, will be formed into groups with each group touring one particular type of business or industry Some 82 establishments are cooperating in the affair and many will enter tain their teacher guests at noon luncheons. A number of teachers will be guests at a Chamber of Commerce membership luncheon at the Marion Hotel. The event provides a vacation today for students of public schools. Classes, however, will continue as usual at Catholic schools in the area. Floyd Clay, 55, Succumbs Funeral servires are pending for Floyd A. Clay, 55, of 4450 S. Pacific Highway, who died Sat urday in a Salem hospital. Clay had, been employed as a pressman for the State Printing Dept .since moving to Salem from Portland in 1939?
