the altars in St Mary's Catholic church' for the wedding Saturday
morning of Miss. Mary Alice Berning of MO, Angel and Robert E.
Lebold of Salem. . ,
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R, J. Berning of
, ML Angel and the bridegroom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Edward
.Lebold of salem. f
The groom's uncle, the Rev. Cy
ril Lebold, OSB. Mt. Angel, offici
ated at the 10 o'clock nuptial high
mass. The 'altar boys were Dennis'
and Gary Schiedler. cousins of the
bride. Miss Helen Keber was or
ganist and St. Mary's choir sang
the mass. The vocalist was Miss
Eustelle' Bauman, cousin of the
bride.
The ! bride wore an . imported
French lace , gown over satin
fashioned with hoop' skirt and
chapel train. The skirt was de
signed with pleated nylon tulle in
serts on either side of the scal
loped lace panel and the portrait'
neckline was accented with se
quins. Her double fingertip veil of
illusion fell from a crown of seed
pearls and sequins and she car
ried a cascade, bouquet of white
roses and stephanotis centered with
white orchid. J
For "something old" she carried
. an imported handkerchief of her
aunt's and a gold and pearl ros
ary belonging to her grandmother,
the late Mrs. Henry Berning. She
was the nineteenth Berning grand
'daughter to carry the rosary, a
golden wedding gift from Msgr.
'Arthur Lane. .
Precede the Bride
Four attendants and a flower
girl, all in pink, preceded the bride
to the altar. Matron of honor was
Mrs. Peter N. Kirk of St. Paul, the
bride's sister. She wore a gown of
petal pink irredescent taffeta,
styled with scoop neckline and bal
lerina skirt with large bow in back.
Bridesmaids were Mrs. Edwin
Wehring. Pomerpy. Ohio, and Mrs.
George Bernards, St. Paul. Oregon,
. sisters of the bride, and Miss Kath
leen Hauth -of Mt Angel. They
v.ore gowns identical to that of the
honor attendant! but of a deeper
shade of pink.: All wore matching
pink satin slippers and crowns and
carried pink crystalette fans tied
with orchids and streamers.
Peggy Ann Kirk of St. Paul,
godchild of the bride, "was flower
girl. :
The mother of the bride wore a
navy dress with white hat and
accessories and orchid corsfge.
The groom's mother chose a char
coal brown suit green hat. brown
accessories and gold cymbidium
orchid corsage.

Groomsmen were Lawrence Herb

Ralph Jackson, Salem.
A dinner-reception in St Mary's
dining hall followed .the church
service. Mrs. J. A. Kaiser, aunt of
the bride seated the guests. Miss
Darlene Gottsacker, Woodburn.
cut the cake and Mrs. Talwin Bern
ing and Mrs. Louis Berning, sisters-in-law
of the bride, poured.
At the punch bowl were Miss Hen
rietta Saalfeld and Mrs. Art Goo
ley. Assisting were Miss Margy
Annen, Miss Arlene Dummer, Miss
Evely Lebold, cousin of the groom.

The newlyweds will spend their
honeymoon at the Oregon beaches
after which the groom will be as
signed to Japan. The bride will re
main here until her husband is -lo
cated overseas and will Join him
later. For going away she donned
a brown suit with brown acces
sories and pink hat. i

her sister, and Miss Jane M. Hande
was the bridesmaid. They wore

gold and bronze chrysanthemums.

Mrs. Hanson chose a delft blue

turquoise crepe gown. Their cor

The wedding reception was held
at the American Legion Gub.
