Glenda Leigh Brown, two-day-old
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
William B. Brown, 3611 Market
St., died Saturday at a Salem
hospital. She was born Thursday.
Surviving in addition to the
parents are three sisters, Marie
Charyl and Cynthia Brown, all of
Salem; grandparents. Mrs. S. B.

Chambers' honeymoon was all
but ruined Saturday by a thief
who stole the braces that make it
possible for ber to walk without
crutches. .
The Portland. Ore..' woman had
gone on crutches, with her hus
band Donald, to take a photograph
in Golden Gate Park, leaving their
car for not more than five min
utes. . When they returned they
found two suitcases missing.

John G. Kelly, publisher of the
Walla Walla Union -Bulletin, will
retire September 25. ' '
Named to succeed him as editor
and publisher is Roland E. Miller,
; assistant publisher since 1948.
Kelly, who will become chairman
of the board. has been a news
paper publisher in Wall Walla!
since-1910.
Starting his newspaper career
as a newsboy on the Kansas City,
Mo. Journal. Kelly later Joined the
circulation department while in
high school. He then went to
Omaha. Neb. on the staff of The
Drovers Daily Telegram as adver
tising salesman., later becoming
business manager. '
I In 1910 he purchased The Walla
walla Bulletin from Eugene ' Lor
ton and in 1934 he acquired The
Walla Walla Morning Union from
the late W. H. Cowles oL'spokane.
The papers were merged to form
the Union Bulletin with morning
and evening editions.
Miller joined The Union-Bulletin
in 1935. He came here from St.
Louis where he attended public
schools and Washington Univer
sity, and Harvard business school.

Street, according to a complaint
received by city police. Officers
said they later questioned a
youth about the incident.
