PORT: WeQ, after four months of
tying the American viewing pub

industry upside down, "The $64,

a contestant with enough intestinal
fortitude to go for the $64,000 ques

the real stickler.
If th contestant vet ' nnst that

the top money, and suspense was
heightened. The $64 question was
usually comparatively easy. That
was the one the producers wanted
the contestant to get. If he inissed

villain of the piece if the final
question was missed.
The same psychology stQl holds
with the new, TV version. The
Marine Corps captain's 132,100

any gourmet could have answered
the big one last Tuesday night. If
the captain had missed it, Hal
March would have been lynched.
But the captain coolda't miss. His
category was food, and he had

pert ea the subject.
On Tuesday he proved himself
pretty smart psychologist as

idly behind hurt and the show's
producers desperately wanted him
to win. With those facts, it was
simple enough to see that the $54,

STARRDUST: Theater Network
Television expects to gross $1,000,

of the Rocky M arc ia no-Archie
Moore heavyweight title fight
Some 120 theaters will "service"
around 350,000 customers. They'll
be paying from $2.50 to $6 for
seats. Three Veterans Hospitals in
New York will get the telecast
free, a publicity sop .if I ever
heard of one. All the rest of us,
including all remaining hospitals
and shut-ins, will have to rely on
radio. A few more such farcical
examples, and. the FCC wilT have
to okay pay-as-you-see TV inspite
of itself. Leave us hasten the day. .
"Lax Video Theater" Is really
getting ap-te-date. Came Oct 20
they'll have Gary Merrill and Jaa

was released only last year ....
Bob Hope is already working oa

six shows this year, each of them

his best skits from the past few
years. Incidentally, he is a till the
