spokesman said Sunday night Capt.
Harold Fischer Jr.. Korean jet ace
from Iowa who was a prisoner of ;
the Chinese Reds had "confessed"
to taking part in germ warfare j
. against them. !
Fischer, from Swea City, Iowa,;
and three other American fliers, j
were released by the Chinese Com-,
munists three w-seks ago. They are j
now back in the United States.
The Air Force official said the;
other three fliers also had "con-i
fessecT to crossing Yalu River
sanctuary during the Korean War
- while under Air Force orders. But
he said there had been no such
orders. ' M

The spokesman's comments;
came in response to a story de
veloped by Fletcher Lenbel, of the
Washington ; bureau of The Minne-;
polis Tribune.
Lt. Cameron Sunday night de
nied that he had made "any con
fession about anything" to his Tied
Chinese captors.
"And I don't know about any
confession anybody else made."
He said he hadn't heard anything
from the Defense Department
along that line.; ;
Heller had previously disclosed
that when the Chinese tried them
on May 24th on the charge of "in
truding into China for harassment
and provocative attack" the four
had all pleaded guilty.

cials who helped the four fliers get
their freedom from the Chinese.

Lt. Parks said he "did not sign
any confession admitting to germ
warfare" and tha "The Air Force
never , issued any orders to fly j
north of the Yalu River.

NEW YORK (UP) A short
haired Marilyn Monroe is studying
the long-hair approach to acting
now with a serious group of young
iiroaaway ; actors ana actresses, i

gestures, stilted mannerisms or
shallow posturing.. '
Miss Monroe, as an observer, is
permitted 'to sit in on the- twice
weekly sessions of the actors stu
dio Regular members, who have
included Marlon Brando, Eva Mar
ie Saint : and Julie Harris, are
picked after stiff auditions which
eliminated all but 13 of more than
1000 applicants this year.
At a typical studio meeting this
week, which this reporter was per
mitted to attend, Miss Monroe ar
rived a few minutes late and quiet
ly set up a folding chair. for. her
self at the side of, the five rows of j
seats filled with members and ob-1
servers. Mi ' - - I
She wore, a white silk pleated
skirt, a low-cut black jersey blouse,
no stockings and backless white
pumps. Her hair was cut short and
brushed back from her face.
The first "scene" began on stage.
MarUynt ; who announced several
months ago that she'd-like to try
. ' a "serious play like "The Brothers
. Karamaiov," slipped off her shoes
in the dark and wriggled her bare
toes as she watched.
Two young men lay on dirty
mattresses on the bare stage. There
was no scenery. Faded blue velvet
curtains covered the brick wall at
the back of the stage.
The scenes that members taKei
turns performing are puzzling to
the uninitiated. Usually they begin
with long silences. The actors avoid
easy "acting out" of the lines. They
experiment with unconventional so
lutions to their own acting prob
lems and the problems of the
scene. : ; - -
After each scene they explain the
problems they tried to solve and
the methods they used in preparing
tor the scene. Then the audience
eives criticism or praise, and fi
nally Lee; Strasberg. the director
who is in charge of each of the
sessions, sums up the critical ap
praisal. Strasberg, Director Elia Kazan
and "Producer Cheryl Crawford run
the studio; which is free for mem
bers and observers, and judge fi
nal auditions for. members. They
also jealously guard the profess-!
ional . status of the studio. They j
normally refuse to i allow the at, j
tendance of stars like Miss Moa-j
roe to be publicizied.
