A large group of Salem and
Dallas women have been invited
to a tea for which Mrs. James
Allan Inglis and her daughter,
Mrs. Mark Peter Miller of Port
land, will be hostesses at , the
Inglis home in Dallas on Satur
day afternoon. May 21.
The affair is being arranged in
compliment to Mrs. William
Swindells Jr., the former Ann
Johnston of Portland, who was
married this winter. The couple
has been living in Monmouth
since their wedding, but will be
moving to Dallas the first of
June, where Mr. Swindells is
with the Willamette Valley Lum
ber Co.
Guests have been invited to
. call between 3 and 5:30 o'clock
to meet the new Mrs. Swindells.

Miss Mary Patricia Healy became the bride of Bruce Kipling
Shurtleff at a beautiful spring wedding Saturday afternoon at St.
Joseph's Catholic Church. The bride is the only daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. William Edward Healy and .the bridegroom is the son of
Mrs. W. Bruce Shurtleff of Lincoln, Neb. and the late Mr. Shurtleff.

banked with bouquets of white
stock, snapdragons and calla
lilies.
For her wedding the bride se
lected a handsome gown of lace
and net over satin designed with
a bouffant skirt over a hoop and
terminating in a train. The fitted
bodice was made with a tiny
collar and long -sleeves and the
skirt was enhanced with scal
loped lace insertion. A coronet
of lace embellished with a heart
shaped pearl design held in
place her fingertip illusion veiL
The pearl design was repeated
on the veil. She carried a cas
cade bouquet of lilies-of-the-val
ley and' stephanotis centered
with a white orchid.
Walk Before the Bride
Three attendants preceded the
bride to the altar. Miss Carol
Fisher was the honor maid and
bridesmaids were Miss Jan Foul-
fer and Miss Jo Ann Ricketts.

aqua crystalette with bolero
jackets and matching halo head
dresses. Their mitts and sandals
were white and they carriedold
fashioned nosegays of pink and
white roses, sweetpeas and bou
vardia. Doyle Dodge stood with Mr.
Shurtleff as best man. Ushering
the guests to the pews were
James McGrath, Robert Faulk
and Jerry Toole, all of Portland,
and A. F. Johnson.
Mrs. Healy attended her
daughter's v wedding in a mauve
pink polished cotton gown with
white hat and accessories, match
ing sandals and corsage of pink
and white roses. Mrs. Shurtleff
came west for her son's marri
age and she wore a navy blue
net gown with corsage of pink
roses.
Reception at Marion Hotel
The newiyweds greeted their
guests at a reception in the Gold
Room of the Marion HoteL Pre
siding at the coffee urns and
punch bowl were Mrs. Robert
Danley, the groom's sister from
Lincoln, Neb., Mrs. Ward Mc
Reynolds. Mrs. Robert P. Rich
ardson, Mrs. Rollin O. Lewis and
Mrs. William B. Patton of Eu
gene. Cutting the cake were Mrs.
Kent E. Anderson, the bride's

ghan, daughter of Mrs. Margaret
Callaghan, to Cameron C. Thorn,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Cameron Liv
ingston Thom of Wedderburn.
Ore. No date has been set for
the wedding.
The bride-elect attended Wil
lamette University and is a jun
ior at the, University os Oregon.
She is a member of PI Beta Phi.
Her fiance attended Pomona col
lege and graduated -from the
University of Oregon. He is now
a second year law student at the
University of Oregon Law School.

30 at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church. The bride, the
former Audra Garbarino, is the daughter of Mrs. Louis
Garbarino and her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs.

Green and yellow were the colors selected by Miss Kay L.
Wesely for her marriage Saturday evening to Norman L. McDonald,
son of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. McDonald. The bride is the daughter of

Pale green candles decorated
the altar, the church windows
and the aisle. The alternate pews
were adorned with yellow bows
and the aisle was marked off with
yellow ribbon. Baskets of snap
dragons and iris with greenery
banked the altar. The green and.
yellow color scheme was repeat
ed in the decorations at the re
ception. Lighting the candles were Miss
Elsa and Miss Sandra Mykol,
cousins of the bride, who wore
yellow ballerina frocks of crys
talette. The bridal gown was of Chan
tilly lace over satin fashioned
with a cathedral train. The bod
ice was made with a low, rounded
neckline edged with gathered
scalloped lace extending to a
scalloped V in back. The full
skirt was designed with a deep
hem of nylon tulle ruffles. Her
scalloped fingertip nylon .tulle
veil, sprinkled with rhinestones,
was caught to a tiara ot seed
pearls. She carried a cascade of
red rosea and white spider chry-
sanioemums.

man for Mr. McDonald and ush

Barney White.
Mrs. Wesely wore a navy blue
taffeta gown with shell pink ac
cessories and corsage of cymbid
num orchids for her daughter's
nuptials. Mrs. McDonald's gown
was of mist Hue lace and linen
with, matching accessories and
corsage of cymbidium orchids.

A wedding reception followed
in the church parlors. Mrs. Eve
lyn VanDyke and Mrs. Lawrence
Traviss poured. Mrs. Harry
Wesely and Mrs. John Wesely,
Jr., aunts of the bride, cut the

The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. LaMont A. Fry, for
merly of Salem and Indepen
dence, who recently moved to
Yakima. The bridegroom is the
son of Mrs. Ralph H. Campbell of
Portland, formerly of Salem, ana

officiated at the nuptials before
members of the immediate fam
ily, who accompanied the couple

The petite bride wore an
ankle length gown of Venetian
lace fashioned wtih a rounded
scoop . neckline, three quarter
length sleeves and a drop waist
line. Her shoulder length illusion
veil was caught to a Venetian
lace headdress adorned with
clusters of lily-of-the-valley on
each side. She carried a lace cov
ered white Bible marked with
lily-of-the-valley.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Powell, of
Salem, the bridegroom's uncle
and aunt, attended the couple.
Mrs. Powell wore a watermelon
red and white print two-piece
silk afternoon gown and carried
a pastel nosegay.
Mrs. Fry chose a navy blue
full skirted gown for her daugh
ter's wedding with a corsage of
pink cymbidium orchids. Mrs.
Campbell attended ber son's marf
riage in a grey jacket ensemble,
wtih corsage of green cymbidium
orchids.
The wedding reception and
supper was held on the roof gar
den of the Mapei Hotel in Reno.
The newiyweds have left for a
honeymoon trip to Lake Tahoe
and California coastal points. For
traveling the new Mrs. Campbell
changed to a navy and white
polka dot dress with navy blue
coat and white accessories.
After June 1, the newiyweds
will be at home in Salem at 605
Breys Avenue.

The newiyweds will spend their
honeymoon at various lakes in
British Columbia. For going away
the bride changed to a grey wool
suit with turquoise accessories
and a white orchid. The bride
groom is stationed at Camp Han
ford, Wash., with the U. S. army.

ing Wednesday night at the
