26 Sentenced To Death by Chinese Reds
TOKYO (UP) Peiping Radio
said Thursday a Chinese Com
munist court had imposed death
sentences ,on 26 persons it called
"American-backed Chinese Nation
alist agents" on charges of spying
and plotting to blow up various
buildings.
The broadcast said the Canton
Municipal Court which sentenced
them commuted the death sentence
for 17 of the defendants.
Peiping Radio claimed the defen
dant confessed high explosives in
their possession were "made by
U. S. espionage organizations,
which also passed onto them in
struction on demolition methods."

LeBaugh, 12, whose thirst for
watermelon brought help from ra
dio hams throughout the country
recently, died Wednesday of leu
kemia. .
More than 23 melons were re
ceived after the appeal for melons
went out in February- There were
so many that her parents had
melons sent to other children in
the city's hospitals.
