Schars Feted

CENTRAL HOWELL Mr. and
Mrs. Alpheus -Schar observed
their golden . wedding anniver
sary Sunday at: an open house
at their residence. Guests were
greeted by their sons, Fred -and
Earl Schar, who with their wives
had planned the affair. Mrs.
Schar wore a rose lace gown and
an orchid corsage presented by
her children. .
Bouquets of daffodils, f orsythla,
snapdragons and acacia were used
about the rooms. The tiered cake
was encircled with tiny spring
nosegays and gold candles. .
The - goldenweds were served
their coffee 'from a silver service
which was a wedding gift 50
years' ago. Mrs. D.vE. Geiser,
Mrs. Oral Egan, Mrs. .Andrew
Ellswick and Mrs. George Elton,
all sisters of Mrs. Schar, served
the cake and punch. Others as
sisting were Mrs. Alvin Krug,
Mrs. Dale Krug, Mrs. Ray Russell
and Mrs. Lyle Krug.
Noel Schar, a grandson, had
charge of the guest book, assisted
by Mrs. Elizabeth Brazier and
Mrs. Henry Rudishauser.

marriage of their daughter, Clor
inda Johnson, to William Black,
both of Salem, on Feb. 18.
The ceremony took place at the
Nelscott home of the bride's
parents with the Rev. Mr. Knight
of Corvallis officiating.
For her wedding the bride wore
a blue gown accented with rhine
stones and a corsage of pink rose
buds.! Miss Sue Johnson was her sis
ter's honor maid and E. W. Clark
stood as best man for his brother.
After a honeymoon along the
Oregon Coast the newlyweds are
now at home in Salem.
The couple graduated from
Taft High School. The new Mrs.
Black is employed at Lipman's
and her husband is with the Pa

Be Held Friday

arations for the all-school carnival
to be held Friday night, March
4 at the school between 6:30 and

members and the interested pub

will be served in the cafeteria
beginning at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds
from the carnival will be used
to purchase furnishings for the
new teachers room.
There will be all kinds of
games with prizes and food con
cession booths.
Mrs. Thomas Hill Jr. is gen
eral chairman of the carnival, the
first one to be held at the school
in six years, and Mrs. Hugh Mor
row is president of the Mothers'
