It will have a, casino, swimmihg! pool, and a large theater-restaurant. ; P Alexander Bisno, a white Los An geles rear estate man who heads a group of private investors build ing the ' establishment, believes it will be the first hotel in the United States to offer Negroes j luxurious resort accomodations. f Henry' Bisno, his brother and partner in a " Los Angeles real es tate firm, says the investors are both Negro and white businessmen, "frankly in business for a profit. Man Freed In Slaying . Jailed Again WELLAND. Ont. (UP) Bruce MacLean, acquitted by an all-male jury of the "American Tragedy- murder of his young wiie, was back in jail Saturday on a false pretenses charge. The jury deliberated a nours ana 14 minutes Friday before freeing the 23-year old steel plant book keeper on the murder charge. Jus tice R. W. Treleaven concurred in the verdict and said the jurors had given MacLean the benefit of doubt as you should do. : MacLean's wife, Betty i zo. drowned Aug. 23. 1953, in nearby Pike Creek during a canoe ride with her husband. It was consid ered an accident until last April when Silvia Davies, 20, a former girl friend of MacLean, accused himi of obtaining si.6O0 from ner under promise of matrimony. s Miss Davies, now Mrs. Raymond St. Louis, said MacLean had told her he deliberately upset the canoe and swam around his wife, a non swimmer, until she drowned J She said the handsome bookkeeper boasted to her that he had com mitted "the perfect crime" and would do the same thing to her if she sued for her $1,600. i MacLean. a former scout leader! took the stand himself during the four-day trial, admitted telling the girl he had drowned his wife, but said be-fabricated the entire story just to scare her. The drowning plot described by the former girl friend had resem bled the theme of Theodore Dreis er's famed novel of the 1920s, "An American Tragedy," in which an ambitious youth drowned his preg nant factory girl sweetheart to marry a rich guU President Asked to Visit Portland ! PORTLAND (UP) Mayor Fred L. Peterson has extended an invi tation to President Eisenhower to visit Portland while he, is in the state next Thursday for dedication of McNary dam. The Portland mayor said he had asked the President to stop off in Portland "if only for a few hours.
