large sandbox constructed of

Upon arrival in the islands, the
group will be guests at the Edge
water Hotel and will join Mrs.
Bob Steele and another teacher
friend from the Eugene area who
are taking a summer teaching

lakes for fishing and swimming.
The explorers hiked through
snow sreas up to four feet deep
every day, yet they swam in one
lake that was warm but surround
ed by snow. Wildlife was plenti
ful and inquisitive deer would in
vestigate the sleeping . boys
camps.
Eleven boys who were not old
enough to go on "the trail" spent
their time profitably at Camp Pi
oneer, where they also were visit
ed by friendly deer, one of which
stuck its head into a tent of sleep
ing tenderfoot scouts and gave
them a scare.
" Advancement" was the theme
of this year's camp and; plenty
was made towards second and
first class ranks.
Those attending were Stan Bor
ders, Douglas Brown, Forrest Da
visson, Charles Hens, David Mor-
row,: Billy LentscV Jimmy Olsen,
Jimmy Powers, Jimmy Sheptrd,
LeRoy Slattum and John Stiffler.

Nellie J. Awbrey. 85. who died In
an Albany nursing home Sunday,

Mri Awbrey was born in Port
land, Conn., Dec. 20, 1868. She
was married to the late ttna Al

Log Truck Dumps

LYONS A load of logs was
dumped into the feed department
of Theils' store here about 5:30
am. Monday when a chain broke
as a log truck was rounding the
corner at the store.
Police said the truck was driv
en by Mike Stewart, employed by
the Bingham, Horne Logging Co.,
Eugene. Nobody was injured. '
