The West Salem Woman's Club
will launch its fall activities with
a fashion show at its first meet
ing Thursday night at the West
Salem City Hall at 8 p.m. Fash
ions will be shown from Lor
man's Dress Shop of West Salem.
The Halloween theme will be
used in the decor and refresh
ments will be served by the of
ficers, who are serving as host
esses for the first meeting. Mrs.

dine Harper, daughter of Mr. and

ville, was married to William
Croco, son of Mrs. Earl Chinn of
Orenco, and formerly of Butte
ville, on Saturday, September 26
in Yuma, Ana.
; Mr. Croco is a seaman with the
navy and the couple will live in
San Diego until he leaves for
Japan. His commanding officer
accompanied the couple to Yuma.
Mrs. Croco was with an insur-
ance company in Portland prior
to her marriage.
This makes three marriages in
the Croco family within the past
several months, Barbara v Jean
Croco married Jack McLeod June
6, and Mrs. Russell Croco mar
ried Earl Chin on September 4.

Surprise Dinner
Fetes Couples
SILVERTON The Dwight
Footes, who have lived for sev
eral years at 214 Cowing Street,
and the Lawrence Liermans, for
merly of Bethany, were feted at
an ' all-church surprise no-host
dinner Friday night at the Meth
odist Church.
The Liermans have just moved
to Stayton and the Footes are
moving to Coos Bay.
Both families were active
membert of the local Methodist
Church, Mrs. Foote having serv
ed as superintendent of the jun
ior division of the church school
and as president of the Woman's
Society of Christian Service.
Mrs. Lierman, prior to Mrs.
Foote, served for more than two
years as president of the WSCS.
She was also a teacher in the
Church School. Both Mr. Foote
and Mr. Lierman were members
of the official church board.
The group presented the two
families with gifts for their new
homes. The Rev.? Douglas Har-
relL pastor, was master of cere
monies. Edgar R. Boyce, chair
man of the church board, made
the presentation of the gifts.

Auxiliary to Military Order of
Purple Heart win meet with Mrs.
Verne Ostrander, 4255 Center St
Wednesday, October 7 at 8 pjn.
After the meeting the auxiliary
members will work on the coming
Viola sale.
' Eugene Shrout chairman of the
sale, will join the auxiliary. Mrs.
Lorraine Boehmer is : auxiliary
chairman. This money is used for
the veterans and their families
and the hospital and rehabilita
tion program carried on by the
organization. The Purple Heart
organization is open, to all combat-wounded
veterans of all wars.

Little Garden Club of Salem
Heights on Thursday afternoon
at a one o'clock dessert luncheon
at the Ramsdell home on West
Salem Heights Avenue. Mrs. Jay
