Exchanging tneir vows at a
simple but impressive ceremony
in the chapel of SL Paul's Epis
copal Church . Thursday night
were Miss Betty McDonnell of
Portland, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Fred K. Brewer of Forest
Grove, and Dr. Robert H. Nle
meyer Jr., son of Robert H. Nie-
meyer of Salem.
The Rev. George H. Swift of
ficiated at the 7:30 o'clock rites
before members of the two fam
ilies. A small reception followed
at the Niemeyer home.
The bride wore two-piece
pink faille costume for her wed
ding withf pink hat and acces
sories.
Mrs. Edward Lynn of Portland
was the bride's only attendant
and Thomas A. Roberts Jr.' serv
ed as best man for Mr. Niemeyer.
After a honeymoon4 trip along
the coast the couple will leave in
mid-October for Alaska, where
LL Niemeyer will be stationed
with the U. S. Air Force as a
dental surgeon.
LL Niemeyer graduated in
June from the University of Ore
gon Dental School. He is a grad
uate of Salem Schools and Wil
lamette University. His fraternity
is Phi Delta Theta.
A fourth son was born to Mr.
and Mrs. George F. Douglas on
Sept. 16 at the Salem General
Hospital The lad has been
named Stephen Ross. His grand
parents are Dr. and Mrs. J. C.
Evans of Otter Rock, Oregon and
Mrs. Fannie Douglas of Salem.
Also welcoming the baby is a
sister, Georgia Gene, and three
brothers, Johnny, Jimmy, and
Scott.

the Calvary Baptist Church will
be Miss Sharon Bates, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Walter . Bates, and
Donald I Jones, son of Mr. and
Mrs. James C Jones Sr. The Rev.
Omar Barth will officiate at the
nuptials and Ray Walker, the
bride-elect's cousin, will sing.
Lighting the candles will be
Miss Sally and Miss Carolyn Ham
ilton, cousins of the bride-to-be.
Miss Virginia Graham will be the
honor maid and Miss Sharon Lar
son, Miss Carol Kunsman of Van.
couver, Wash., end Miss Beverlie
Roy, the bridesmaids. Flower
girls will be Linda Jones, a cousin
of the bride-elect and a niece of
the groom-elect, and Jackie Ham
ilton, cousin of Miss Bates.
Wade Carter will serve as best
man for Mr. Jones. The ushers
include J. Courtney Jones Jr. and
Daryl Jones, brothers of the
benedict - elect, Ronald Bates,
brother of the bride-to-be, and
Delwyn Kleen.
The wedding reception will be
held in the church parlors.
Sanvain-Christy Rites
Miss Arlene Christy and
Charles Sauvain of Woodburn
will be married at a morning
ceremony on Saturday, October 3
at St Joseph's Catholic Church.
The bride-elect is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Christy and
her fiance is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Forrest Sauvain of Wood
burn. Father J. M. Harris will offi
ciate at the 10:30 o'clock nuptial
mass. Wayne Meusey and Ardith
Miller will sing and Mr. Meusey
will play the organ accompani
ments. Mrs. Edward Murphy of Wood
burn will be the matron of honor
and bridesmaids include Mrs. D.
E. MerrilL sister of the, bride-to-be.
Miss Janet Bolt and Miss
Dixie Bond. Edward Murphy will
serve as best man for Mr. Sau
vain. A reception will be held at the
American Legion Club following
the rites.

Show Slated
For October
Plans are being announced for
the Salem Junior Woman's Club
annual fall benefit show. The af
fair will be an event of Tuesday,
Oct 27 at the Salem Woman's
Clubhouse at 7:30 p.m.
Fall and winter daytime fash
Ions will be shown by the Fash
ionette and formalsand millinery
will be from the Towne Shop.
Mrs. James T. Brand will be. the
commentator.
A dessert supper wil be served
and bridge will be in play follow
ing the show.

heading the directorate for the
affair and Mrs. William Cla
baugh, is the co-chairman. Assist
ing are Mrs. Clarence Rickard,
Miss Betty Jean Bergner, Mrs. R.

Miss Nordyke
Tells of Troth to
Mr. Robinson
Mr. and Mrs. Homer Nordyke
are announcing the engagement
of their daughter, Sandra, to
Klane Robison, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Kenneth E. Robison of Pu
eblo, Colorado. No date has been
set for the wedding.
Miss Nordyke enrolled this last
week for her sophomore year at
George Fox College, Newberg.
She is majoring in music and is
well known in musk circles in
Salem. -.
Mr.. Robison graduated from
George Fox College last spring
and is now taking graduate work
in music end religious educa
tion at Lewis and Clark College.
The Sigmas will be entertained
Monday night at the home of Mrs.
Karl G. Becke on North Summer
Street at 8 o'clock. This will be
the first 'meeting of the group
this fall and wives of Sigma Chi
alumni are invited to attend. Co
hostesses are Mrs. Robert Sprague
and Mrs. John William Stortx.

Fall activities for the Salem
League of Women Voters will get
underway with a membersnip
luncheon on Wednesday noon at
the Marion HoteL The guest
speaker will be Mrs. Albert Logan
of Corvallis, state: league presi
dent All league members and
interested women are invited to
attend the luncheon and reserva
tions may be made with Mrs.
George tiwartsley or Mrs. L. E.
deWeese.
Mrs. EL E. Montgomery of
Eugene, second vice-president
and chairman of the organization
committee on the state board, will
also be present for the occasion.
She will act as the state board
advisor for the local league. Mrs.
Montgomery will participate at
the monthly board meeting to be
held Tuesday night at the home
of Mrs. Max Bauer. Miss Eloise
Ebert is president of the Salem
League.
Following the Wednesday
luncheon Mrs. William Van Meter
of Salem, state nominating chair
man, will join Mrs. Logan and
Mrs. Montgomery in visiting the
Medford and Klamath Falls
leagues.
