Modern Etiquette
By EOBERiA LEE
Q. Does a woman employee ever
call her employer by his first
name? -
A. This depends upon their re
spective ages, length of their ac
quaintence and whether or not
the office is conducted informal
ly. However, to clients and visi
tors, she must always speak of
him as Mr. Gordon.
Q. Is it proper to write a
"thank you" note to a hostess
after a luncheon in her home?
A. "Thank you" notes are never
in order after a luncheon. In
stead, you return her invitation
with a similar one when you can.
Q. When visiting in the home
of a friend, and a box of candy
is open on the table, is a guest
privileged to help himself with
out an invitation?
A. No. To do so would be pre
sumptuous. Q. What is the best way for a
man to ask a girl for a dance?
A. "May I have the next dance,"
is probably the best manner.
