The tourney, under the joint sponsorship of the Salem Junior Chamber of Commerce, the city schools and playgrounds and tht. YMCA, will offer ribbons to first, second and third place winners in 38 different events. The meet is open to boys and girls who have not yet reached their 19th birthdays. Mrs. DuPont. playing in her first major tennis competition in two years, entered the semi-finals of the Essex Tournament with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory over Doris Hart of Coral Gables, Fla. Mrs. DuPont, who ruled as U. S. champion in 1943, 1949, and 1950, and was Essex winner in 1941, 1949 and 1950, is unseeded in this year a tournament. Wheat wound up with gains of 54 to 6M1 cents and the final figure on September, ILSSVi-K, was a very substantial 1314 cents higher than the six year low set during the first hour Thursday. Wheat didn't re cover all the ground lost this week, however. Price changes were small in other pits. Corn ended H-H higher, oats H to 1 cent higher, rye l-2Va higher, soybeans lower and lard unchanged to 15 cents a hun dred pounds higher.
