German shorthair dog, has won
top honors among volunteer March
of Dimes workers in Salmon.
Max Hemmert, who owns Stub,
tied a miniature iron lung around
the dog's neck and he trotted up
and down Main Street.
More than 190, from dimes to
silver dollars, were dropped into
the iron lung.
The primitive wild sheep has
two coats, one of wool and the
other of hair.

burial in Valley View cemetery.
Dahl, who was born In Nor
way, March 3, 1881, died at the
Silverton Hospital Friday night.
In recent years he had made his
home with Cecil Hubbard on
Star Route, Silverton. A brother,
Olaf Goodhue, survives in Minne

Alvin Van Cleave have returned
home from a vacation in California
and Arizona. On their trip, they
called on former Salem residents.
Mr. and Mrs. Dan Crowley and
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brinkman,
now of Wbittier, Calif.
- They also spent i five days at
Palm Springs and a few days at
the Flying; E Guest Ranch, for
merly owned by Lee Eyerly but
it is now operated by Mr. and Mrs.
Vick Kelly, formerly of Wood
burn. They went through Tehach
api but saw little evidence of the
earthquake of a few months ago,
Plans were made at the meet
ing of the Hazel Green Mother's
Club Thursday evening to - spon
sor a carnival on March 6 to help
to raise funds for a movie pro
jector for the school.
Mrs. Ruby Bunnell showed the
film Human Growth and led a
discussion period following the
showing.
Refreshments were served by
Mrs. William Darling and Mrs.
Thomas Houloubek.
The next meeting will be on
March 0 at which time another
film will be shown by Mrs. Bunnell.

ident Herbert Hoover was report
ed recovering rapidly Sunday from
a mild attack of Influenza.
Lawrence Richey, onetime White
House secretary and old friend
of the former chief executive, said
Hoover Is feeling well and may be
able to leave the hospital Monday
or Tuesday.
Hoover went to the hospital a
short time after he had arrived
here Saturday for a vacation.
