Preference will be grant ed to war veterans. 152 Cascade Area Scouts to Visit Jamboree A total of 152 adults and Boy Scouts of the Cascade Area Scout Council will attend the national scout Jamboree next summer in California, the Salem scout office reported Saturday. This area's contingent will con sist of four troops of 35 scouts and three leaders each. The Jamboree will be held July 17-23 af the Irvine Ranch, Santa Ana, Calif. "Annroxlmatelv 60.000 scouts and Explorer Scouts of all colors and creeds from the United States and all other free nations' will participate in this great show of world youth brotherhood,' said Gordon Gilmore, council scout executive. Tentative plans call for local scouts to leave Salem on July 11 and arrive in San Francisco early the next day. The scouts will tour San Francisco and leave that night for Santa Ana. Upon arriving at the jamboree grounds on July 13 the scouts will set up their campsites and par ticipate in a one-day training session. July 14 to 16 will be given over to tours of Southern California, and Mexico. Tours will include the large UJ5. Marine and Navy bases at San Diego, aircraft plants, tele vision and movie studios, Mi. Pal- omar and other points In Cali fornia and Mexico. The jamboree will officially open on July 17. Preliminary plans call for President Dwlght Eisenhower to open the sessions. Jamboree officials have esti mated it will require more than 1090 special trains to transport "this greatest assembly of free youth in the world," to the jam- bore site. Quaker Plans Talks Here on United Nations Borne Insight Into Soviet Russia is nromised in two soeeches here Tuesday by Gerald Bailey, Eng lish Quaker, representative to the last three meetings of the United Nations. Bailey, .one-of seven Quakers visiting the Soviet Union in the summer of 1951, will address the chapel at Willamette University at 10 ajn. The meeting is planned for the Willamette gymnasium. The second meeting will be at 8 pjn. in Waller Hall on the Willamette campus. While in Russia, the Quakers were given a wide latitude in making investigations. Their tour included visits to collective farms, a coal mine, museums, a housing development and even a Russian prison. They also talked with Russian religious leaders, both Protestant and Catholic. They conferred with Joseph Malik and other Russian government leaders. Appearing under the auspices of the American Friends Service Committee, there will be no ad mission charges.
