nouncing dates for the fall dough

in their neighborhoods will begin
on uctober 15 and October 22 has
been designated as deadline for
orders. Delivery will be made on
Jaruraay, October 25. Mrs. George
Todd is acting as chairman of the
drive, with Mrs. Raymond Olson
as ner co-worker.
Profits from the sale will help
the girls groups to finance their
projects and activities. Of the
many works carried out recently
is the Freedoms . Foundations
Award to Camp Fire Girls for
participation in the "Dolls to Fos
ter Friendship1" project. Frequent
ly, a group adopts a family at
Christmas or Thanksgiving. Some
groups , have made outstanding
contributions to the Korean Aid
appeal, while some of the older
girls continue to serve within local
institutions. The - Horizon Club
members assist at the Falrview
Home.
Camp Kilowan, the Willamette
Area Camp, also receives a part
of the sale profit to be applied for
year-round maintenance and re
pair. Awards of special campshlps
are available for presentation to
the best Camp Fire and Blue Bird
salesmen. Girls from 7 to 18 will
participate, and as new groups axe
now beginning,! this will be the
first sales experience for. many.
Juniors to Hear Judge
The Americanism department,
Mrs. Harry Ewing chairman, is in
charge of the Salem Junior Wom
an's Club meeting Monday night
at the clubhouse at 8 p. m. A board
meeting will precede at 70 p. m.
with Mrs. Theodore Jenny pre
siding. Judge Val Sloper will be
the guest speaker, using "Ameri
canism" as the subject for his talk.

Recital
Miss Catherine Petersen, a re
cent resident of Salem and dau
ghter of Mr. and Mrs. Christian
Petersen of Keixer, will present a
viola recital in Portland on Satur
day evening, October 18 at the
Neighbors of Woodcraft HalL. Her
program will ! include works by
Marais, Marcello, Bloch and
Brahms. Henri Arcand will assist
at the Diano. 1
In New York City Miss Petersen
studied with D. C Dounis, the
word-famous string pedagogue.
She has also worked under Ferene
Molnar of San; Francisco and Jul
ian Brodetsky bf Hollywood. Dur
ing the - last war Miss Petersen
served In the United States Ma
rine Corps, following which she
attended Mills College and the
University of Illinois, , where she
had a graduate fellowship in mu-
sicology.
Miss Petersen was eoncertmas-
ter of the Portland Junior Sym
phony for two, years and a mem
ber of the Brodetsky Chamber
Music Ensemble, concertizing in
California for five years. She has
played viola recitals In Honolulu,
Illinois, Colorado and ! California,
and wil be a member of the Port
land : Symphony orchestra during
the coming season.

house in honor of the golden wed
ding anniversary of their parents
Saturday, Oct. 18 between - and 5
o'clock in the afternoon and 7 and
9 o'clock in the evening. The affair
wfll be at the home of the youngest
son, Virgil Lamb, at 3198 D Street
All friends of the couple are invited

Clara Thomas and Alva Franklin
Lamb were married October 18.
1902 at Arkansas City, Kansas and
came to Ore gen the following year.
