Stocks Make
Third Straight
Gain in Prices
NEW YORK (A1)- The stock
market made it three straight Fri
day with a slight gain despite lag
ging railroads.
Price changes either way were
not particularly significant, but
the manner in which the market
resisted selling was considered
worthy of note. In the final hour
the market gathered a little
strength.
Price changes spread out over a
range of less than 2 points either
wy as a general rule with the
great bulk of the list quite narrow.
The Associated Press average of
60 stocks gained 10 cents at
$105.50 with the industrial com
ponent up 40 cents, rails off 10
cents, and utilities unchanged.
Volume came to 1,190,000
shares, slightly above the daily
average so far this year. Thurs
day's total was 1,320,000 shares.
Major Grains

Corn was the weakest of the
cereals with losses at the close
running to more than 2 cents.
However, wheat, corn and soy
beans also were quite weak, al
though soybeans had spells of
strength.
Wheat closed 's-l'i lower, corn
IV7-2V4 lower, oats l4-,, rye
l?8-334 higher, soybeans un
changed to 1 cent lower and lard
10 cents lower to 7 cents a hun
