Stocks Banish Bearish Gloom NEW YORK (JP) Wall Street banished its bearish gloom this week, and the stock market marched ahead to a new 22-year-high. That led many to conclude that the traditional summer rally had started with a good bounce. This was the first five-day week of the four-month summer schedule. The average advanced $2 on the week, the second biggest weekly gain of the year, and at the close stood at $105.30. That's the highest it has been since June 13, 1930.
