A group of 10 delegates repre
senting BPOE Lodge 336 in Sa
lem will travel to Eugene for the
1952 Oregon State Elks Conven
tion to be held there next Friday,
Saturday and Sunday.
The ten will take part in the
ceremonies at Eugene complete
with bowling, trap shooting, a pa
rade through the city and the
regular business meetings during
the convention.

coming and community picnic

Pay Agreement
PORTLAND (JP) Paper manu
facturers and AFL paper mill
workers announced agreement Sa
turday on a new contract for 17,
000 workers in 36 plants in Ore
gon, Washington and California.
The new agreement calls for a
4Vi cent hourly wage increase and
for a union-management financed
health and welfare program. The
employers are to underwrite 60
per cent of the welfare program's
cost.
The new contract, which will
increase hourly straight time pay
to about $1.91, is to become effec
tive June 1 providing it is ratified
by the union membership and ap
proved by the Wage Stabilization
Board.

according to Postmaster Albert C.
Cragg.
The total in postal receipts dur
ing 1931 was $876,443, including
$23,845 in franked mailing. For
the previous year the total was
$870,698, including $30,581
franked.
