To Open Third
Salem Store
After 33 years' absence, the P.
D. Quisenberry Pharmacy will
open a store soon near its original
site of business on South Liberty
Street. The company began there
in May, 1919.
The addition of the store at 130
S. Liberty St. soon will make three
Quisenberry locations for Salem.
The store room was occupied un
til recently by Stubblefield's Shoe
Repair Shop near the Anita store
corner at State Street.
"This expansion is part of a
long range program," Quisen
berry stated Thursday. "We feel
Salem warrants a professional
pharmacy devoted strictly to sick
room necessities and prescriptions.
This new site will provide that."
Quisenberry had been located
originally in the Guardian Build
ing before it burned down in 1947.
He now has pharmacies at the
corner of Court and Commercial
Streets and near Salem General
Hospital.
The slogan of "three Quisen
berry Pharmacies that operates as
one" will be upheld by a duplica
tion of all files and prescription
numbers, Quisenberry said. Pa
trons may get refills for prescrip
tion at any of the stores under
this system.
John Sawyer is to supervise the
prescription department and Law
rence Sawyer will take charge of
the medical centers division at the
new store. Both men are present
ly employed by Quisenberry.
