Glacier Park may .have
to start looking for a new name.
Naturalists say that 50 years
from now It'll be glacierless un
less there's a bis change in Mon
tana climate. The, giant glaciers
which gave the park its name are
slowly melting away. Some are
gone already.
Every winter blizzards shriek
and swirl around the mountain
peaks and repleenish the glaciers
with new snow, but summer's hot
sun take away more than a winter
adds.
BIG FLAME IS BEACON
LONG BEACH, Calif. (JFl-The
Calstate Refining Co. here doesn't
have any trouble with its huge
open gas flame until workmen
turn it off.
The big torch, seen for miles at
night, burns off surplus gases from
the plant. On rare occasions when
the flame doesn't burn, the plant
and local police station are
swamped with telephone calls
with the complaint: "The torch
if out."
The flame is also a marker for
pilots who land at Long Beach
Air Terminal, a company official
aid.
YOl'TH TRAVEL TO INDIA
NEW DELHI, (TP) A pair of
German youths who left home
with $11 and a pre-war motorcycle
between them have traveled 9,000
miles to write a college thesis on
India.
The pair, Gustav Pfirmann and
Oskar Kroner, both 24, left home
last March 15 against the advice
of their friends and Munich Uni
versity associates.
On the long overland trip, Kro
her, a good cook with a flair for
medicine, kept both men in good
shape. Pfirmann, a motor mechan
ic, kept their ancient motorcycle
purring contentedly.

Ducks Obey

bellhops go to the fountain in
the lobby of the Hotel Peabody,
wave their hands and four ducks
hop out of the water.
The ducks waddle to the ele
vator, on which they are whisked
to the hotel roof to spend the
night in their toops.
The next morning at 7 o'clock
the procedure is reversed and
down they come again to go on
duty in the lobby fountain.
Skoda Production
