Friday games: Sacred Heart at Stay
ton. Cascade at Philomath. Waidport
t Salem Academy (non-leafue).
Sacred Heart Academy's bid to
stay alive in the Capitol League
basketball race will be made Fri
dy night at Stay ton where the
Cardinals play the Eagles in the
feature battle of the week's round.
Another Friday game has Cas
cade's Cougars at Philoruath. Sa
lem Academy, idle in league play,
will nonetheless be active in a
clash at West Salem with the vis
iting Waidport quint.
'Joe Boyle's Staytons, atop the
heap with a perfect 5-0 record,
defeated Leo Grosjacques' Cards
in their first meeting this season.
But the Cards have since improv
ed greatly, winning their last five
straight games. Stayton has been
little worse off, winning three of
the last four outings.
Philomath downed the Cascades
In their first game and since they
will be playing at home Friday,
figure to do it again.
Dale Parnell's Salem Academy
quint opened the season with a
win over Waidport and will be
after a third straight victory in
the West Salem clash. The Cru
sadera have a 4-1 record in league
Dlay. Sacred Heart's mark is 2-2,
and another loss wipes out all
hopes the Cards have for the
championship Stayton now seems
heeaded for.
Stayton's Hal Titus, with a 26
Doint splurge against Cascade last
week, now leads the individual
scoring race with 96 markers in
his five games. Bob Johnson of
Salem Academy has 82 for second
place and both Bob Brotherton
of the Crusaders and Virgil Weber
of the Cards are tied for third at
71. Weber has played in one less
gamo than the others, However.
HUGE 'DOUBLE PAID
OLDS MAR, Fla. JP) The dally

day. The big double resulted when

paid $121.30, while the second race
was taken by Jaco's Bay, a $50.50
