The North Marion-Yam hill game was not played, as Yamhill did not wish to travel on Friday's icy roads. The Gates Deaf School "B" game was not played Friday either, and Gates instead drubbed the Salem High Sophomores. Tuesday night games in the Marion Loop find Cnemawa at Oregon School for the Deaf, Gates at Mill City in the feature clash, St. Paul at Gervais and Sublimity at Jefferson. Gervais nipped De troit in n overtimer Friday, Mill City bested St. Paul and Sublimity conquered Chemawa. Willamette Valley League games Tuesday put Sandy at Molalla Estacada at Canby, Silverton at Dallas and Mt. Angel at Wood burn. The latter two struggles loom as the top lights of the round On Friday Molalla eyelash ed Mt Angel, Dallas bested Estacada, Canby measured Sandy easily and Woodburn nipped Silverton in a thriHer. Tuesday nlghters in the Yawa ma League have Willamina at Amity, Sheridan at Dayton, North Marion at Sherwood and Yamhill at Banks. In the openers Dayton's pennant-favored Pirates downed Amity, Willamina topped Sher wood and Sheridan's strong team lowered Banks. SBC Receives Game Reports The reluctance of Stanford to change from a spread defense in ths face of a relentless Illinois ground attack was a point of mys tery m the recent Pasadena Rose Bowl clash, Oliver Huston, long time Salem athletic fan, told mem bers of the Salem Breakfast Club at their meeting Monday morning at the Senator Hotel. Huston added that Stanford's passes, successful in the opening half, got no where in the final two quarters as Illinois form ed the defense to cope with them. Wednesday night games have Keizer playing the Marketeers, Cannery Local facing National Guard and Campbell Insulators squaring off with the. Loggers, in that order. The league-leading Salem News Agency does no playing this week. Trotters Slate Local Showing The Etarlem Globetrotters bas ketball team, on its annual barn storming trip through the North west, will play Friday night, Jan. Is. la Salem. It was announced by the Bvetnsoring Junior Chamber of Commerce Monday. The Trotters are to play a group f Salem City Leagve All-Stars, most of which will be selected from the Salem News Agency and Campbell's Insulators teams. This means that Bowl games in which conference have agreements that still have a year or two to run would be played until the contracts run out. He said that it also meant that athletes holding- athletic scholar ships would keep them. Hannah pointed out Sunday the job of enforcing this program would rest with the accrediting associations of the country. A school which got out of line ath letically, he said, would risk its academic standing. But Monday Hannah said: "We hope that the schools, the NCAA and the conferences all bring themselves in line so that this will work. Illinois Wins Again CHAMPAIGN. 111. (AP Photo) Another 'Hula' Contest Friday HONOLULU UPV-Hank Lauri cella, talented Tennessee tailback, was added to the roster of the College All-Stars who face the pro Hawaii All-Stars Friday night in a second Hula Bowl charity football game. The collegiates measured the pros in Sunday's first game 41-40, with a line-up that featured 15 mainland college aces. The col lege team had a 20-0 lead after seven minutes and a 41-19 margin later in the game. The Hawaii pros shoved over three touchdowns in the last quarter as the collegians appeared to coast They whittled that 22 point bulge down to a single point but could not overcome It.
