Story .Behind
A Glistening
Christmas Tree
Passersby who view the beauti
ful tree in the showrooms of the
Valley Motor company this year
may see it only as a lovely decor
ated tree, with a shimmering
gown of metallic snow.
But some of the brilliance is in
truth, a reflection of the beauty of
spirit which typifies the human
heart and finds escape during this
most cherished of all holiday sea
sons. The large tree is the gift of a
kindly couple who wanted to-give
happiness and cheer to many many
of their neighbors. Here is the
tree's story:
For many years Mr. and Mrs.
George A. Raymond had cared for
a tree on their lawn, but it had
grown out of its allotted bounds.
Mr. Raymond, who is ilL finds his
greatest pleasure in watching traf
fic in the busy street on which
they live, but the tree was slowly
shutting off his view.
Sentiment would not allow them
to cut the tree and merely discard
it they wanted it to give pleas
ure to someone. Calling the Val
ley Motor company, they offered
the fir for the firm's annual
Christmas tree.
And now the tree stands, deck
ed in hundreds of packages of glis
tening foil a tribute to the very
thoughtful couple.
Mrs. Taylor Hawkins Is leaving
today for Silverton to spend the
holidays with her son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. William
Duncan.
