higher along the recovery route.
Today the Associated Press aver
age of 60 stocks gained 10 cents at
$96.60, just 50 cents higher than a
week ago. The session was excep
tionally slow with only 400,000
shares changing hands, the lowest
since April 21 when the total was
390,000 shares.
Today s market was well within
the pattern of the week. With the
AP average of 60 stocks up 10
cents at $96.60, the industrial com
ponent advanced 30 cents, and both
the railroad and utilities compon
ents held unchanged. The market
narrowed down to only 792 indi
vidual issues of which 29S advanc
ed and 247. declined with a new
highs and 13 new lows.
