was thrown for a loss today by
an official estimate of a near
record Canadian ' crop. Oats and
rye also declined in response to a
forecast of better -than -average
. erops In the dominion.
The rest of the market, not in
fluenced by the crop outlook in
Canada, held up fairly welL At
one time corn, soybeans and lard
II had nice gains, but they lost
most of the ground toward the
close. '
Wheat finished -lH lower,
eorn lower to higher, oats
unchanged to- V, lower, rye (new
Style) 2-2 lower, soybeans 1
lower to higher and lard 2 to
10 cents a hundred pounds higher.

ary, the stock market advanced
moderately today, but the rise was
hampered by several tired areas.
Steels, motors, oils, utilities,
rubbers, radio-television and air-
em its all made good progress.
The railroads were prominent
because of. their inability to hold
to their early gains. . And there
was a lot of profit-taking in chem
icals and gold mining shares.
The Associated Press average of
60 stocks was up 20 cents af $96.70
with the Industrial component up
40 cents, rails down 10 cents, and
utilities up 20 cents,
