Dwight D. Eisenhower is
working for an allied army under
a 'jingle flag, uniform and com
mand to defend western Europe,
senators reported Monday on their
return from an overseas Inspection
trip.
Senator Brewster (R-Me), one
of nine foreign relations committee
members wbo visited seven coun
tries in the last two weeks, told
newsmen Elsenhower is "going
all out" for the non-national army
proposal. "
- In Paris, Eisenhower's headquar
ters said it had no comment.
Brewster said he was informed
that while Britain opposes the Eis
enhower plan, France and west
ern Germany are about agreed on
tts general principles.
Senator Sparkman (D-Ala) went
step further. He said an agree
snent was reached last Saturday
and that an announcement is ex
pected soon.
This seemed to Jibe with reports
from Paris that plans for a con
ference of allied foreign and de
fense ministers to discuss the sin
gle army plan will be made there
tomorrow. They will go over a
proposal for' merging the armed
forces of at least six nations
France, Italy, West Germany, Bel
gian, Holland and Luxembourg.

Missouri Valley Authority as the

In a speech prepared for senate
delivery, Murray announced that

introducing an MVA bill for a
setup along Tennessee Valley Au
thority lines. He said congress has
turned the measure down in the
past solely because of pressure
from private power lobbies.
Murray, chairman of the sen
ate Interior committee, asserted
that "the old methods and pro
grams to control these floods In
the Missouri valley which have
been followed through the years
have completely failed."

Mill Oty Schools to
Get Federal Funds

funds, U. S. Rep. Walter Norblad
informed Marion county school
superintendent Agnes Booth by
telegram Tuesday.
The district is located in the De
troit dam area, making it eligible,
said Mrs. Booth, for federal aid.

set up in peace to preserve the
