Vows Read
. The Jason Lee Methodist church
was the scene of the marriage of
Miss Betty Blakley, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Foster Wedmore, and
William D. Miller, son of Mr. and
Mrs. D. C Miller of Kamiah. Ida
ho, on February 2. The Rev James
R. Wilson officiated at the candle
light ceremony. Mrs. Theodore
Humiston was the soloist and Mrs.
Edith McClure the organist.
The Valentine theme was car
tied out in the church decorations
with heart shaped bouquets mark
ing the alternate pews- At the al
tar were bouquets of iris, stock
nd pink carnations.
For her wedding the bride chose
a mist blue ballerina gown of lace
and net and carried a heart sha
ped bouquet of bouvardia and
rosebuds centered with cymbidium
orchids.
Mrs. V. W. Luke was her sister's
matron of honor and wore a shell
pink taffeta ballerina frock and
her heart bouquet was of pink and
white carnations. Bridesmaids
were Miss Bernice Wedmore, the
bride's sister, and Miss Jane Ash-
fordj w(Tw6ft yellow! taffeta bal'
lerina frocks. They also carried
hearts of pink and : white carna
tions. 1 -.
Richard Miller was his brother's
best man and ushers were Paul
Huntsinger and William Sims.
For her daughter's nuptials Mrs.
Wedmore chose a ' forest green
dress with black accessories. Mrs.
Miller wore a black suit with mat
ching accessories. Their corsages
were of yellow carnations.
A reception f olowed in the Kir
by room. Mrs. Robert Tompkins
cut the cake and Mrs. Ruth Ash
ford presided at the punch bowL
The couple will live in Salem.
The groom is a junior at Willamet
te university.

week's mail came an autographed
copy of "Dinner at Antoines" to
Mrs. R- H. Baldock from the auth
or, Frances Parkinson Keyes, who
resides in New Orleans ... In
December when the Baldocks were
in New Orleans Mrs. Keyes was in
Europe ... on her arrival home
when she found out her long time
friend (they became acquainted in
Puerto Rico) had been to Antoines
without her she immediately sent
her a copy of her book . . . "Joy
Street" is Mrs. Keyes newest book
and one of the best sellers . . . .
Even though the Baldocks were
not taken to Antoines by Mrs.
Keyes they were personally shown
the famed New Orleans restaurant
. . . Mrs. Baldock was most im
pressed with the trophy room
where cases are filled with the
crowns of the Mardi Oras kings
and queens for many years . . .
Home again ... are the Russell
Bpnesteeles, who have been to
Florida and New Orleans ... a
highlight of their travels was the
plane trip to Havana, where they
stayed at the famed Nationale ho
tel . . .
Dancing . . . continued during
intermission at the Tillicum club
dinner dance a week ago at the
Marion hotel . . why . . . be
cause four of the members went up
on the stage and formed their own
orchestra . . . Glenn Hoar, the
club president, was at the piano
. . . Glenn Burright played the
bass fiddle ... Dr. H. E. Gilbert
the drums and Carl Armpriest the
trumpet . . . they had good rhy
thm and received a grand ovation
from the dancers at the end of
their twenty minute perform
ance . .
Moving note . . . The Arthur
Athertons, who maved here in the
fall from Ontario, have purchased
a newly built home at 4040 Alana
avenue . . . they hope to start
moving the end of the week .
Daughter, Nancy, is quite excited
about moving as her room will be
the penthouse bedroom with a sun
deck . . .
Headed south . . come Friday
on the daylight will be Mary
White, who is going to San Fran
cisco to meet her sister, Mrs. Ron
J. Buick, and twin sons, Tony and
Barry, when they arrive by plane
from their home in Masterton,
New Zealand . . . They are due
in the bay oity on February 21 and
plan to leave for Salem the follow
ing day . . . Mary will have sev
eral days in San Francisco before
her sister's arrival and plans a
trip to Carmel . . .

Formal Dances
This Weekend
On the dance agenda for the
coming weekend will be the Town
olub, Caraa and Bon Heur club
parties.
The Capital room of the Hotel
Senator will be the setting for the
Town club formal dinner dance
Saturday night- Dinner will be 9
o'clock with dancing following to
the music of Urs Wolfer and his
orchestra.
The decorating committee for
the dance includes Mr. and Mrs.
Werner Brown, chairmen, Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Brownell and Mr. and
Mrs. Reynolds Allen.
The Cama club's formal dance
will also be Saturday night at the
Izaak Wolton clubhouse between
9:30 . and 12:80 o'olock. Chester
Mulkey's orchestra will play for
dancing.
The Bon Heur dance club will
have a party at VFW hall Friday
night from 9:00 to Ili45 o'clock.
The committee will include Mr.
and Mrs. Harvey Aston, ohalrmen.

Woman's Missionary Federation,
of which Mrs. Harold Satern is
president, will meet Friday night,
February 16, at 8 o'clock at the
Fireside room of the parish house.
Hostesses are Mrs. H. C. Banks,

Dahl and Mrs. Luther Hatteberg.
The topic will be presented by
Mrs. John Overhand with Mrs.
Ole Meland to discuss Christian
Nurture.
Immanuel Bethany circle meets
Wednesday at 2 o'clock at the
heme of Mrs. Nels Nelson with
Mrs. Banks as co-hostess.
Calvary Ladies Aid meets Wed
nesday at the church social rooms
with Mrs. Axel Johnson as hostess.
The time has been set for 2 p.m.
Trinity Lutheran Dorcas society
has invited the Rev. Arnold W.
Nelson, pastor of Immanuel Luth
eran church to be guest speaker at
its annual birthday party Wednes
day, February 14. He will speak
of observations made during his
two years' stay in Germany with
Lutheran relief and rehabilitation
program.
Guests at the party will be seat
ed according to the month in
which they were bom. A friendly
competition develops as each
month's group collects a penny for
each year of age. Proceeds from
the program go toward the support
of a native Bible teacher in one of
the foreign Mission fields. The
support of this teacher is one of
the big projects of the Dorcas.
Several musical numbers have
been planned for the birthday
party. Mrs. Esther Grisham will
direct group singing. Other num
bers .include clarinette Quartette,
Loretca Toft, Kay Bergerson, Va
let Hahn and Pat Thorkildson;
piano duo, Janet Kellis and Deloris
Nicholson; women's trio, Mrs.
Donald Burch, Mrs. Grisham and
Mrs. Harlan Moe: vocal duet. Mrs.

Satern and Pastor Joseph Luthro.
Mrs. William Bloch heads the
hostess group.
SHERIDAN Officers elected
by the library board for 1951 are
Mrs. Frances Bradley, president;

Mrs. Palmer Byrkit, treasurer, and
Mrs. Harold Fuller, secretary. Mrs.

serve a four year term on the li

Mr. Hansen
Miss Joyce Alice Weber became
Mrs. Edward Carroll Hansen at a
lovely ceremony Saturday night at
8 o'clock at the Christ Lutheran
church. The bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Wellington Weber
and the groom is the son of Mrs.
Tillie J. Hansen of Everett, Wash.,
and C. B. Hansen of Portland.
The Rev. Carl R. Schulz per
formed the nuptials before a set
ting of pink and white carnations
and stock. Corydon Blodgett was
the soloist and Mrs. Goldie Pos
the organist
Of white slipper satin was the
bridal gown fashioned with a
rounded, scalloped neckline and a
full skirt terminating in a train.
Her only ornament was a pearl
necklace worn by her mother at
her wedding. A Juliet cap held in
place her fingertip veil and she
carried a bouquet of pink roses
centered with a white orchid.
Miss Barbara Pomeroy of Port
land was the honor maid and wore
blue satin with net yoke and net
mitts. She carried a nosegay of
pink and white carnations. Brides
maids were the Misses Donna Bo
etel. Jo Anne Hagan, Mary Jacobs,
all of Portland, and Dorothy Ladd
of Salem, who wore , pink satin
frocks with net yokes, satin mitts
and carried nosegays of blue and
white iris and carnations.
Ring bearers were Linda Han
sen, sister of the groom, in blue
satin and Dianna Weber, the
bride's sister, who wore pink satin.
Myron Wagoner of Portland was
best man and ushers were Don
Haskins. Lee Kellv. Arden Knen-
per and Eugene Taylor, all of Port
land and DeMolay brothers of the
groom.

with black and white accessories.
Mrs. Hansen attended her son's
marriage in a royal blue suit with
grey accessories- Their corsages
were of white rosebuds.

mother, presided at the punch
bowl and the bride's ffrandmnther.

honeymoon the new Mrs. Hansen

ing her brother and sister-in-law,
the junior David Eyres. Accom
panying the Johnsons to Portland
was the Eyre's son, Larry, who has
been here the past week while his
parents were in San Francisco. Mr.
