Look and Learn
; By A. C Gr4B
(Continued from preceding page)
California win over Notre Dame
are prime examples f how
teams can be so terrifically "ap.
And thase Saturday results fol
lowed a pattern whicji haa been
characteristic of these long and
bitter rrid series , between the
teams Involved . . .
It has always been said of the
Middies and the Army that all
past records mirht just aa well
be pnt beyond the bounds of con
sideration when they come to
gether for their annual clash.
These service lads start from
scratch in their yearly entangle
ment And so, considering the
pattern, perhaps the Navy win
on Saturday can't be called so
astounding after all ...
Irish Not So Lucky
Lock of the Irish? Well. In
these SC-Irish mixes the lack
has been pretty much concen
trated on the side of El Trojan
. . . But when Lady Lack Is so
Inclined to deposit ber favors on
any one club you'll find that
club usually is an aroused and
alert bunch of footballers ...
'Course that wouldn't necessarily
apply to the Instance in a Tro-
Jan-ND tilt of several years ago
when an Irtsher, in the act of
making a last-ditch desperation
takle on a touchdown-bent '
SCer., was nicely blocked out of
action by a straying referee .
'Ttcas the Truth
Nope, that wasn't a typogra
phical error Sunday morning.
Meaning the headline which
read: "Seattle U. 101. Willamette
60." . . . This Seattle outfit Is
said to pound the maple boards
like a bunch of Jet-propelled
wild men and to possess a col-
lecuve group 01 snooting eyes
that'd make Dan Boone or Wild
Bill Hickock envious ... One
disadvantage burdening Johnny
Lewis' 'Cats In the Chieftain ser
ies lay in the conditioning de
partment. Al Brightman's Chief
tains already having five games
under their belts when they step
ped In against the WITs . . . Just
a thought, but wonder what the
Huskies were occupied with
when such Chieftain stars
Speidel, Higlin and the O'Brien
twins stepped from the high
school halls and looked over col
lege possibilities ...
