3 Men Given
Sentences in
Circuit Court
Three men were sentenced, one
had a parole revoked and one more
entered guilty pleas Wednesday in
Marion county circuit court before
Judge George R. Duncan.
Those sentenced were:
George Higgins, Woodburn route
1,-to. nine months in the county
jail, after pleading guilty to a
charge of larceny by embezzle
ment, involving theft of irrigation
sprinkler heads from the Wood
burn Boys school, where he was a
cottage supervisor until Septem
ber. ..
LeRoy Smith, Canby, a suspend
ed six-months jail sentence and
three years' probation, on charge
of obtaining money by false pre-
tenses. -
George F. Herschbach, 1167
Court st suspended six - months
jail sentence and two years proba
tion, on charge of non-support, fol
lowing, his plea of guilty.
The three-year parole granted
Troy f Perry on August 29, on
charge of third degree arson, was
revoked and Perry was sentenced
to 18 months in the state pententi
ary.
A guilty plea also was entered
by Robert E. Wilson, Lebanon, on
a charge of sodomy, and he was
sent to the state hospital for 30
days observation.
Lyle Dean Workman, Lyle Fran
cis Workman and Jerome Higdem,
all of 680 N. Liberty st, were con
tinued to Friday for arraignment
on charges of conspiracy, involv
ing an alleged series of fraudulent
checks.

Dr. Cameron Paulin, head of the
Willamette art department, and a
group of his Oriental art students
will travel to Seattle this week
end to study the Oriental collection
at the Seattle Museum of Art.
Of special interest to the stu
dents wiU be bronzes of the Shang
and Chou dynasties in China,
which they have recently been I
studying. The group also plans to '
visit the Henry gallery and the
art department on the University j
of Washington campus.
