on camping activities, finance and
ramn building was given by Mrs.
John Syme, field director, who
served as camp director during
the summer season.
Mrs. S. M. Zeller of Corvallis,
national council delegate of Wil
lamette area council, discussed
the over-all Camp Firt program
and the Willamette area council's
relation to the national Drogram.
Mrs. Zeller is the chairman of
reeion VI this year, which com
prises the states of Washington,
Oregon. Montana and Idaho. As
chairman of the region she will
attend the National Council meet
ing in St Paul, Minnesota in Oc
tober. She is also a participating
member of the national finance
commission and national field ser
vice commission. '
Miss Nora Garvin, regional
field supervisor for Region VL
attended the meeting ' as part of
her three day visit to the Willam
ette area. Miss Garvin spoke
about the outstanding growth of
Camp Fir Girls in the northwest
and the important part Camp Fire
Girls and Blue Birds all over the
nation are playing in civilian de
fense through service projects of
all types to local and national
community groups and organiza
tions. -
The Leaders association of the
Salem District of the Willamette
area council of Camn Fire Girls
met for their first meeting of the
xau at the Presbyterian church on
Tuesday. After a covered dish
luncheon, Mrs. Frank Kolaky, the
chairman, led the discussion of
the formulation of the plans for

Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Donnell have
arrived from Westwood, Calif.,
where they have been making
their home the past three years,
for an extended visit here with
their son-in-law and daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Perry. They
plan to be here until after
Christmas.
Mrs. Mary Shlndler of Los An
geles is visiting in the oapltal
with her ton-in-lav and daugh
ter, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schneider,
for several weeks.

ning to follow their favorite team

Headed east . . . George C. Hug-
gins, jr. left Thursday for New
Jersey, where he will be married
to Susanne Thompson on Septem-
oer 30 at the Elizabeth Rodman
Voorhees chapel at New Jersey
College for Women. . . . The cou
ple will drive west on their hon
eymoon and will make their home
in Salem, where he is with the
Huggins Insurance Agency.
The benedict's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. George C Huggins of Coos
Bay, will also go east for the nup
tials and he will serve as best
man for his son. . . . The couple
met In Coos Bay. where she has
been teaching at the Marshfield
junior high school . . . their en-
gagement was announced in the
early spring. ...
