Salem lodge, is due for the gun grounds on Airport road Sunday,

marksmen to the meet which has some glittering trophies and
merchandise prises as an Incentive.
The program will Include 11-yard singles, 50 -bird handicap
la the various classes, a match between ex-exalted rulers and
other novelty events.

which Is planned as a yearly feature by Salem lodge 231 aad Its

Philadelphia Phillies won their
most Important game of the sea
son tonight.
' Reeling under a five-game los
ing streak, and their comfortable
league-leading margin In Jeop
ardy, the "whiz kids" came
through with a 4 to 3 victory over
the chau enging Brooklyn Dodgers.
The clutch win increased their
lead to iVi games over the frus
trated Dodgers, who won the first
three games of the series only to
see their hopes dashed by Russ
Meyers six-hit pitching.
Hurling his first complete game
since July 5 th, the 27-year-old
righthander posted his eighth vic
tory, the. third over Brooklyn,
against 11 defeats. First Baseman
Eddie Waitkus paced the Phil's
eight hit attack against loser Erv
Palica and Dan Bankhead with
two doubles and a single, driving
in two runs.
In the American league.-the De
troit Tigers nipped the Chicago
White Sox. 3-2, on Vic Wertz's
ninth-inning hit to move a half
game ahead of the New York
