Mrs. M. H. Utter will celebrate
her 90th birthday at a family din
ner this afternoon at the Oak
street home of her son and daugh
ter - in - law, Dr. and Mrs. Floyd
L. Utter. I -
Mrs. Utter, who will be 80 on
Wednesday, has resided-in Salem
for 49 years. She was born in
Abington, Illinois, and has two
sons, Dr. Floyd Utter and Dr. E.
H. Utter of Portland. There are
seven grandchildren and ' five
great - grandchildren. Mr. Utter
passed away ten years ago.
Mrs. Utter is in good health and
has been reading braille lor the
past three years. She makes her
home at 1041 South 13th street.

ceremony Saturday night at 8:30
at Trinity Lutheran church. The
Rev. Joseph A. Luthro read the
ceremony. Mrs. Harlan Moe play
ed the weddine music and ac
comDanied the Rev. Hubert Ahn
quist soloist. Candles were lieht
ed by- Martin and Ernest Pihl,
brothers of the groom. x
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore white mar
quisette with lace insets and a
train. She wore her mother's veil
of tulle which cascaded from a
coronet of orange blossoms. Her
bououet was a white rose buds
Mrs. Dareld Satern of Astoria
was matron of honor for her sis
ter - in - law. She was gowned in
yellow marquisette with a frost
ed design and carried orchid
gladioluses with a matching head'
piece. Bridesmaid was Miss Lor
etta Madsen or miisboro, cousin
of the bride, in aqua marquisette
fashioned identical to the honor
matron. She carried yellow glad
ioluses and wore a matching head
piece.
.- Karen Pihl, groom's sister, in
pink dotted organdy, and Jerry
Hatteberg, were flower girl and
ting bearer. Mr, Pihl chose for
his best man, Dareld Satern, bro
ther of the bride, and Martin and
Ernest Pihl, brothers of the groom,
and Marshall Satern, cousin of the
bride, were ushers.
Mrs. Satern wore a rose pink
crepe gown for her daughter's
wedding and Mrs. Pihl chose royal
blue crepe. Both mothers had
corsages of rosebuds.
Six cousins of the bride assist
ed at the reception at the church
parlors. Mrs. Arthur Thompson,
Portland, and Mrs. Anders Pola
Seattle, poured; Mrs. Fidel Vroom,
Seattle, cut the wedding cake and
assisting were Mrs. , Harry Hie
berg of Portland, Mary. Moe and
Charleen Moe, Silverton. Others
assisting were Miss Rose Ann Pihl,
sister of the groom, BothelL wash
Miss Elsie PihL sister of the
groom, and Mrs. Marshall Satern,
Silverton, and Miss Vivian Pear
son, Kelso, Wash.
The couple left on a trip east
to Boston where Mr. Pihl will
serve his year's internship in the
Lutneran pastorate.

ding took place on August 5 at the St. Vincent de Paul
Catholic church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
P. C. Crawford and the groom is the son of Mrs. Mary Gott
fried and Jacob Gottfried. The couple will live in Corvallis
while he completes his education at Oregon State college.

have left for Lake Wallenpaupak,
Pa.,' to visit his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. George Schroeher, sr. They
will also visit in New York and
plan to be away a month.

just returned from the middle-
west, having j traveled , in Illinois
and Wisconsin following the con

are leaving I today for Seattle
where Mr., Schmidt will attend
the National Broadcasters convp"-
tion.

othy E. Bratlien, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Christ Bratlien, of Noo
nan. North Dakota, and Harvey
H. Fox, son of Mrs. Eva Fox, Sa
lem, on Saturday night, with the
Rev. C. R Schultz officiating at
the 8 o'clock ceremony. Miss Mar
garet Plautz, the soloist, was ac
companied- by Bernard Phmpps.
W. E. Anderson, an old family
friend, gave the bride in marriage;
She chose a white suit with navy
accessories and carried white as
ters and baby, breath centered
with an orchid.
Miss Lillian E. Bratlien was the
honor attendant and her suit was
pink with gray accessories. She
carried a nosegay of pink and
