Price Report
CHICAGO, Aug. 10-(H3rains
stalled around today waiting for
the regular monthly government
crop report, due after the market
closed. In very quiet dealings the
market dipped early, rallied in the
morning and then played out the
session with little movement.
The most significant trend de
veloped in wheat, which showed
a little more firmness than any
thing else. Reports of a slight
pick up in flour business were
heard, and, in addition, recepts of
the bread cereal at major termi
nals have not been running high.
Wheat closed -l higher.
corn unchanged to lower, oats
- higher, rye was unchanged
to higher, soybeans were V to
1 cent higher and lard was 17 to '
32 cents a hundred pounds lower.
More favorable war news and
splendid crop growing weather
acted as a weight on the market.
Nevertheless, there wasn't much
selling, and some traders felt that
might have been due to the fact
that prices have backed down
considerably from the post-Korea
highs.
Anywhere from 25 to 60 per
cent of the gains scored immedi
ately after hostilities started in
Korea now have been lost. The
biggest loss has been in rye; the
smallest in September com. Tho
following table gives final prices
on June 24, the subsequent highs
and today's close on near-by deliveries.
