Kenneth A. Tracy was fined
$350 here Wednesday after he
pleaded guilty to making cash
payoffs on a pinball machine at
his tavern at 1897 S. 12th st '
Tracy also received a suspend'
ed 30-day jail sentence as did
Melvin Hagedorn, 2675 S. Sum
mer st, bartender at Tracrs tav
era. Hagedorn also pleaded guilty
in the Marion county circuit court

The men were arrested Monday
by deputy sheriffs who declared
they were paid-in cash after win
ning on the pinball machine. The
gaming device was seized and
tagged as property of the Willam
ette Amusement company. . .

suit for divorce from Harvey Cox
in Marion county circuit court.
The Brooks couple was bound
over to the grand jury here Mon
day on - charges of passmg
bogus check at a local bank.
Mrs. Cox alleged cruel and in
human treatment in the divorce
complaint which stated the couple
was married at Vancouver, Wash,

MRS. KING WINS HONOR
Mrs. Marjorie King, graduate
student at Willamette university,
made a perfect grade average this
spring, receiving the only straight
A record in the graduate school,
it was announced by Harold Jory,
registrar. Mrs. King, who makes
her home in Salem, is majoring
in education.

In Scotts Mills
Pinball Case
A pinball machine was confis
cated fro mthe Scotts Mills coffee
shop by Marion county sheriffs
deputies Friday, and the cafe's
proprietors were cited on charges
of promoting a lottery.
Mrs. Nellie Shanks and Mrs,
Corwin Logue, both of Scotts Mills,
were ordered to appear in district
court here this afternoon. Deputies
said they received a cash payoff
after winning on the pinball ma
chine, t

Fred and CarL both of Spokane,
Wash.
