Brooklyn bombed its way into un
disputed possession of first place
in the National league tonight with
a rousinr 8-2 victory over Cincin
nati's Reds. i
While the Dodgers were club
bing three home runs against three
Cincinnati pitchers, the St. Louis
Cardinals fell one game off the
pace, dropping a 3-2 decision to the
New York Giants.
Other National league action
saw Chicago's Cubs, behind Bob
Rush's five-hit pitching; turn back
the Boston' Braves, 4-3, in ten
innings, and the Philadelphia Phil
lies rally to whin thf Pittsburgh
Pirates, 7-3.
The New York Yankees moved
to within one game of the league
leading Detroit Tigers in the Am
