Bull Market
Has Mild Case
Of Cold Feet
NEW YORK. May 27-OPr-The
Nig bull stock market of 1949-50
had a mild case of cold feet this
week nothing serious but
enough to cause a little head
shaking among the financial ex
perts. On only one day during the
week did the market make any
progress. Declines were small.
though, and at the final bell Sat
urday the price level was only a
trifle below the four-week peak
touched a week earlier. ,
The market's failure to contin
ue an advance that started nearly
a year ago coincided with a heavy
flow of excellent business news
and predictions.
Noby seemed very much sur
prised that the market refused to
get excited about the business
news. Majority opinion was to the
effect that the week's small de
cline was a temporary interrup
tion in a long swing ahead.
On Saturday brokers and their
customers were more interested
in Betting away for a long week
end than in stock trading. Sales
volume dropped to only 470,000
shares, smallest for any short ses
slon since late November last
year. !
The market will open Monday
but close Tuesday in observation
of Memorial day. Some traders

Next Saturday the market will
be closed as the exchange starts
on its summer schedule. Saturday
closings will extend from , June
through September.
Tne Associated press average
finished the week at 78.8, down
.4 of one point from the end of
the preceding week. This compar
ed with a four-year peak of 79.2
hit last week.'
