Spending the spring and summer in Europe will
. be Mrs. Ida Herr and her sister, Mrs. Robert
L. Elfstrpm, who left last week, sailing from Mon
trexal. They will visit the British Isles, going on to
the continent Mrs. Herr's main destination is Ad
dis Ababa, Ethiopia, where( she will make an ex,
tended visit with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr.
and Mrs. Ben Owen, who are with the Sudan im
perial missions. Mrs. Elf strom will return to the

Spring Dances Slated ...

dances' art on the calendar for 'the com
ing weekend. For Friday night is the Tuxedo club's
second formal dance of the season. The affair will be
held at the American Legion club with dinner to be
served at 8:30 o'clock and the social hour preceding
at. 7:30 o'clock. r Jimmy Whetmore's orchestra will be
down from Portland to play between 8 and 12 o'clock.
Town club will hold its dividend dance on Satur
day night. This will be a sports dance and will be held
at the No-Name ballroom beginning at 9 o'clock with
the Wolfer's orchestra playing for the affair. A smor
gasbord will be a feature of the evening.
: The Cosmis club dance will be an event of Sat
urday night at the Mayflower hall with Claude Bird's
orchestra playing between. 9 and 12 o'clock. The com
- mittee-includes Mr. and Mrs. Desmond Daue, Mr. and
Mrs. Lee Port, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Enyeart and Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Dunn. !

Visitors in the cxipital are Mrs. Charles C. Strong and daughters Janet and Cathy, who have been
making their home in Honolulu the past two years, here Lt Strong has been with the navy.
They are visiting her mother, Mrs. Hope Randall, and her fcjfther, Joe RandalL Lt Strong will arrive

Luncheons on Week's Agenda
Mrs. Coburn Grabenhorst and Mrs. Jack Price ire continuing with their series of bridge parties this
week. They have invited guests to the Grabenhorst home on Candalaria Heights Wednesday and Tnurs
day nights. Sixteen have been invited each night and late suppers will be served following cards.
Mrs. Homer Goulet, sr. has bidden members of the Town aad Country club to her country home oa
Wednesday afternoon for luncheon and bridge. Coming from Portland for the affair will be Mrs. Arch
Tourtellotte, Miss Ruby Archambeau, guests, and Mrs.George A. White, a member.
Panhellehic Gathering
Guest speaker at the City Panhellenic luncheon on Friday afternoon at the American Legion club at
one o'clock will be Mrs. William R. Greig, who is coming north from Oakland, Calif., for the Trl-College
workshop at Willamette university on Saturday. Mrs. Greig Is national panhellenic advisor to the wee
coast collegiate panhellenic. The subject of her talk will be "City Panhellenic Responsibilities."
Mrs. George S. Hoffman is president of the City Panhellenic and will preside at the luncheon meeting.
All sorority women in Salem are Invited to attend and reservations may be made up to Wednesday by eall-
ing Mrs. Harris Lietz. .

months European trip are Dr. and Mrs.
Waldo C. Zeller. They sailed from New York
and will visit in France, Belgium, Holland,
Switzerland and Italy. They will tour the British
Isles lor a month, returning to the states in Au

Town and Gown Tea . .
Town and Gown will conclude its activities for
the season on Thursday afternoon with a musical
program and tea beginning at 2 o'clock at the Mu
sic hall on thei Willamette university campus. Mrs.
James T. Brand will preside at the last meeting of
the year and election of officers will be held.
Mrs. P. H. Brydon is arranging the musical
program which will include vocal selections by Mrs.
Clorinda Topping, professor of voice at Willamette
university, who will be accompanied by Prof. Ben
net Ludden. Numbers will be given by a string trio
including Dalbert Jepson, violin, Mrs. Jepson, pi
ano, and E. O. Bandel, cellist. Professor Ralph
Dobbs of the Willamette piano department will
play a group of selections.
Mrs. Wayne Loder heads the tea directorate.
The tea hour i will follow at Lausanne hall with
Mrs. Wayne Loder heading the directorate. In
charge of decorations for the living and dining
rooms are Mrs. Daniel j. Fry, jr., Mrs. Ercel Kay
and Mrs. Taylor Hawkins. Mrs. James B. Young and
Mrs. Floyd W. Shepard are in charge of refresh
ments and acting as hostesses will be Miss Lorena
Jack, Mrs. A. D. Woodmansee and Mrs. John Car
1 son. Presiding at the tea urns will be Mrs. P. H.
Brydon and Mrs. Robert D. Gregg.
