Miss Eleanor Steph ens, member of the local branch and historian for the state divi sion. Is scheduled as one of the featured speakers at the confer ence. Miss Stephens will give the address at the banquet meet ing April 21 and will discuss the History of the Oregon Division." The local branch will "receive recognition for its; fellowship Drosram at the conference as it Is one of five branches in the state which has recently; award ed a study grant The group sponsored the Beryl .Holt study grant which was awarded this year to a Japanese woman . for study In this country. The Oregon state division was organized in 1924 and had Its first meeting In Sa lem. One of the principal speak ers at the meeting will be Dr. Phoebe Morrison, representing the national AAUW office. Dr. Morrison Is in charge of the in- rnational relations ' program. fore starting her present work with AAUW two years ago. Dr.! Morrison served as research as sistant to two ' of America's spe cialists 'In. International law and held other important research and government posts. In the summer of 1948 after accepting her AAUW post Dr. Morrison went to England for the council meeting of the International Fed eration of University Women. She observed the work of wo men's organizations and organ- bed an exchange of correspon dence between British and Am erican groups of comparable na ture.
