Ivy. vke-pres! dent In charge of health-prof es- sion colleges of the University of TTlinolt, has been studying the ef fect of tension states and emotion' al factors on the occurrence of peptic ulcer. In a lecture at Cleveland Clinic recently. Dr. Ivy also said that the marital status had little bear ing on the rate of ulcer deaths among women. On the basis of statistics com piled by the British, wives -of C- anders and profesnional men have the lowest mortality rate ' from peptic ulcer, while their husbands have the highest. Wives of unskilled laborers, however, have as high .a death rate from the disease as their husbands, according to Dr." Ivy. Dr. Ivy does not think that ten sion is the basic cause of the disease.
