Soybeans Still
Climbing on
Board of Trade
CHICAGO, March 20-flVThe
high flying soybean contracts
gain whirled upward on the
board of trade today.
: Beans ended on gains extending
to more than 4 cents, set another
string of new seasonal highs and
generally carried the rest of the
market upward with them.
All bean deliveries except No
vember .scored new seasonal highs.
So did all corn contracts as well
as 1 March and May oats. May
wheat equalled its seasonal peak.
Feature of trading was the lack
of selling pressure, which was
more noticeable than any urgent
buying. 1
Wheat closed 1-2K higher,
worn, was higher, oats were
lower to higher, rye was
- higher, soybeans were 2
4b higher and lard was 10 to 15
cents a hundred pounds higher.
There was no immediate news
to account for ' the strength In
beans.' -i - '

Prices Slip
NEW YORK, March 2H!P)-The
stock market tried hard to hold
on to slim gains today but lost
its grip In the final hour and
fell back.
There was a lot of corporate
good news to spark the market,
and there were a number of Indi
vidual issues that stood head and
shoulders above the general level
of prices.
But none of this was enough to
keep the market from dropping a
notch after the sparkling advance
of last week which was thefbest of
the entire 1949-50 bull market
Of the 1,086 individual issues
traded, 358 advanved and 439 de
clined.
The volume of trading was
1,420,000 shares compared with
1,600,000 shares on Friday.
