Stock Market
At High Level
NEW YORK, Oct. 27-3VThe
stock market pounded ahead to
the highest level in almost a year
today.
It was the third advance in a
row. In the three-day period the
market value of all stocks listed
on the exchange has increased by
more than $1,000,000,000.
Volume stepped up to 1,760,000
shares from 1,620,000 Wednesday.
This was a trifle under 1,790,000
reached two weeks ago and com
pared with the year's high of
1,850,000 established March 30.
The Associated Press average
of 60 stocks advanced .50 of one
point to 63.2. This was a peak
since 63.4 on November 4 last year
and just under the pre-election
high.
